Dr. Maria Karakousoglou serves as the Program Director of the Orthodontic Residency at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA). She earned her dental degree from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, and completed her Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics residency and a master’s in Dental Sciences at UTHSA, where she also pursued a fellowship in lingual orthodontics. Dr. Karakousoglou is an ABO Certified Orthodontist and serves as President of the American Lingual Orthodontic Association (ALOA). Her expertise includes digital orthodontics, lingual appliances, and the management of complex craniofacial anomalies, with a strong commitment to research, mentorship, and advancing orthodontic education.
